Powertech Labs was established in 1981 in Surrey, B.C. Canada, to provide engineering support to our parent company, BC Hydro.  We have since become a wholly-owned, non-regulated (non-subsidized) subsidiary of BC Hydro, allowing us to compete on the open market.  The Materials and Mechanical Testing facility at Powertech are available for testing and certification services in accordance with a variety of standards, as well as expert consulting in many areas of Materials, Metallurgical and Mechanical testing.

Our Engineers, Scientists and Technologists have a vast array of experience and are recognized as authorities in certain areas of expertise, including welding, hydrogen embrittlement, composite technologies, and pressure vessels.  Our experts can help design test programs, demonstrate new technologies before they are brought to the market, as well as applying analytical capabilities to assess and improve equipment performance.
